Garage to open Manchester Arndale store this summer
Canadian fashion brand Garage has revealed more details about its upcoming store at Manchester Arndale, which is set to open this summer and will mark one of its first locations outside London.
The new store will be Garage's first location in the North West, following its UK debut with the opening of its two-level flagship in London at 321 Oxford Street West and at Bluewater, as well as the launch of its e-commerce platform.
The expansion marks the next phase of the brand’s international growth strategy, reinforcing its focus on the UK market. It already has 231 stores across North America.
The brand, founded in 1975 in Montreal, gained recognition in North America during the 1990s and 2000s for casual denim, hoodies and streetwear styles.
Its aesthetic is now being updated for contemporary trends, with low-rise jeans, fitted tops and other early-2000s-inspired pieces.
As it continues to expand its presence in the UK, Garage aims to reach Gen Z shoppers who also frequent brands such as Bershka, Pull&Bear and Urban Outfitters.
The Manchester Arndale location is well suited to cater to the brand's target audience, with a strong concentration of style-conscious Gen Z consumers, alongside annual footfall exceeding 40 million and a student population of more than 100,000.
Later this year, the brand is also looking to open another location in Manchester, at the Trafford Centre.
Romina Kolodziejska, Vice President, Global Real Estate & Store Development at Garage, said: "Manchester is a key market for us as we continue to expand our footprint in the UK. Opening our first store at Manchester Arndale allows us to establish Garage in one of the country’s most prominent retail destinations.
"This milestone reflects our broader growth strategy and commitment to delivering a strong, consistent brand experience. We’re excited to bring Garage to Manchester and to build meaningful connections with customers in the region."
Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, joint asset manager for the retail destination, added: "Bringing Garaage to Manchester Arndale is a fantastic addition to our growing fashion line-up. The brand has built a strong reputation internationally, and we’re proud to be the destination chosen for its first store in the North West."
