Italian premium accessories group Furla has promoted Alberto Camerlengo to the position of CEO after six years with the company.

Camerlengo joined Furla in 2011 as general manager having previously been CEO of Brooks Brothers Europe from 2004 to 2011 and prior to that chief operating officer of Fossil in Italy. He is an economics graduate from Milan's Bocconi University.

Giovanna Furlanetto, president of Furla, said the appointment of Camerlengo was a strong sign of continuity and "represents the company’s will to continue its current path of growth and development. We trust Alberto will continue to pursue the group's future projects with commitment and passion."

The company recently announced a 24.5% rise in sales in 2016 to €422m and said it planned to continue its strong international expansion in 2017, including increasing its presence in the UK where it now has two stores in Knightsbridge and on Regent Street.
