Freight Brokers doubles its capacity to provide free shipping for NHS PPE

Fashion industry courier Freight Brokers is doubling its capacity to provide free shipping to UK-based manufacturers producing PPE for the NHS and other frontline care services.

The London-based business has announced it will now handle 2,000 parcels completely free of charge to move essential supplies from factories, warehouses and studios in the UK to NHS hospitals and distribution centres and care facilities.

The family-run business has confirmed that the offer is open to all UK-based suppliers, not just existing Freight Brokers customers.

Last month, Freight Brokers offered to move an initial 1,000 parcels on a first-come, first-served basis. Among those that took advantage of the free service includes Duke and Dexter, Emma Willis, Gosha London, John Lewis, Orion Clothing and Simone Rocha.

As part of Freight Broker’s five-year commitment to sustainability, the carbon emissions of all the free shipments are offset by 125%.

Charles Keisner, Managing Director of Freight Brokers, said: “Our usual business is moving smaller consignments around the world, not within the UK, but we were so impressed with the efforts made by so many fashion industry people here at home that we wanted to support them with our services

Given the response so far from such a wide range of UK-based companies, we felt we had to increase our capacity, once again on a first-come, first-served basis. We want to stress we are happy to handle quite small shipments as that is definitely our speciality.

Freight Brokers asks participating supplies to send them a photo of the PPE that is to be transported and these images are used via the company’s social media channels to encourage others to become involved.

Suppliers wishing to discuss the free shipping of NHS supplies should contact Louis Kurlander at Freight Brokers.
