Fred Perry has announced the launch of a collaboration with Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, inspired by British youth culture and individualism.

Glaswegian born and London-based designer Charles Jeffrey has looked to reinterpret Fred Perry’s subcultural uniform through his inimitable lens of vibrant punk optimism.

Fred Perry items such as polo shirts, a knit jumper and a kilt are all presented through Jeffrey’s own directional viewpoint with his LOVERBOY aesthetic. The two labels’ shared heritage of tartan is celebrated as Jeffrey twists traditional patterns and adds subversive DIY flamboyance.

Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s signature knitwear is also introduced through Aran knit jumpers and cardigans and knee-high socks.

The project will be celebrated via Jeffrey’s lifelong passion for music – specifically the burgeoning nu-rave and indies scene which dominated his early years as a student in London.

The full collaboration will be unveiled across three standalone capsule collections, the first of which launched this month with a video featuring James Potter from Walt Disco and Lucia Fairfull from Lucia & the Best Boys. The film is narrated by Charles himself.
