Former Matalan CEO Angus Monro joins Peachaus as acting Chair and invests £250k
Former boss of Matalan Angus Monro has joined lingerie brand Peachaus – founded by ex-Topshop Fashion Director Gillian Ridley Whittle – as acting Chairman, and has invested £250,000 in the company.
The appointment of retail veteran Monro, who has also previously held lead roles at B&Q and THG, marks a new phase of growth for Peachaus as it “prepares for further funding and national expansion”.
Peachaus is breaking the traditional retail model by taking bra fitting directly to women - into workplaces, co-working hubs and festivals, rather than expecting them to visit stores.
Monro said: “I love Gilly and her unique approach to values-led retailing. Peachaus combines purpose, inclusivity and real commercial potential and I’m excited to help scale that.”
Ridley Whittle, who also previously headed up buying for lingerie and beauty at M&S, launched Peachaus in 2022 with early backing from former CEO of Michael Kors, Cedric Wilmotte, alongside investment from ex-Wacoal CEO, Tracey Lewis, with advisory support from Sweaty Betty founder, Tamara Hill-Norton.
Together they are “building a business that is at the intersection of sustainable fashion and women's health”, with ambitions to disrupt the global lingerie market.
