Former Farfetch COO in the running for top job at ASOS

Former Farfetch Chief Operating Officer Andrew Robb is reported to be among those in the running to take over as CEO at ASOS.

Robb spent almost ten years with Farfetch and left in February 2020 having seen the global luxury marketplace through its scale-up phase to a $6 billion listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

According to Sky News, Robb is among a number of candidates being considered to take over from Nick Beighton, who stood down as CEO from ASOS with immediate effect in October.

Prior to joining Farfetch in 2010, Robb worked at publishing giant Bauer where he led its first foray into online retail with the launch of off-price site Cocosa (which is now part of Brandalley).

Before launching Cocosa, Robb was digital director of the lifestyle division of Bauer working across brands such as Grazia, Heat and Closer. He is currently advising Felix Capital, which was an early stage investor in Farfetch and Deliveroo among others.

Sky reports that ASOS is hoping to announce a successor to Beighton along with the group's annual results April.

No other candidates names have been revealed and it is reported that while Robb has significant experience at an international online fashion business, he does not have experience of running a PLC, which may counted against him.

Last week ASOS reported that it was planning to move from London's junior market AIM to the London Stock Exchange, which should take place before the end of February. The online young fashion giant is being run on an interim basis by COO and former CFO Mat Dunn.
