Former ASOS chairman Ian Dyson has been appointed as a non-executive director at JD Sports Fashion plc and will be joining the sports fashion giant's Audit and Risk Committee and Remuneration Committee.

Currently chair at electrical retailer Curry's, Dyson had been chair at ASOS from October 2021 until May 2022, when he stood down to join Curry's. He had previously been a senior independent director at ASOS. He has also been senior independent director at Flutter Entertainment plc and a non-executive director of Intercontinental Hotels Group plc and SSP Group plc.

During his executive career, Dyson held high profile roles such as Group Finance and Operations Director of Marks & Spencer and CEO of Punch Taverns.

JD Sports Fashion plc chairman Andrew Higginson said of the appointment:“I am delighted to welcome Ian to the JD Board. He brings a wealth of relevant experience and insight to our deliberations. The appointment of Ian is further progress towards strengthening the Board’s broader PLC experience base."

Higginson, a former chair of grocer Morrisons, was appointed as JD chair in July of last year. He replaced longstanding executive chairman and CEO Peter Cowgill, who left the business last May. Shortly after Higginson was appointed, Régis Schultz, formerly of Dubai-based conglomerate Al-Futtaim Group, was named as new CEO as JD delivered on its promise to split the chair and CEO roles.
