As COVID-19 saw the calling off of many events in the 2020 calendar, LGBTQ+ Pride festivals saw its fair share of cancellations.

Many fashion brands have continued to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month, despite no clear season of queer events to target their product to.

Throughout Pride Month 2020, TheIndustry.fashion will be showcasing the brands who continue to be proud, and support the LGBTQ+ community by releasing collections, donating funds and breaking down barriers in fashion.

This year’s Nike BeTrue collection looks at LGBTQIA+ representation and interprets those perspectives through various styles and colour applications.

Arriving 19 June 2020, the BeTrue 2020 collection is anchored by two Nike pieces - the Air Force 1 and the Air Max 2090. Completed by the Nike ACG Air Deschutz, the BeTrue 2020 collection reaches every corner of sport and comfort.

This year, Nike is proudly supporting more than 20 organisations advancing the LGBTQ+ community through grants administered by the Charities Aid Foundation of America.

Adidas’ capsule collection features rainbow iterations of some of their highest-selling trainers. Footwear featured in the collection includes - Slides, Carrera, Ultraboost, Nite Jogger, NMD R1, Harden, and Superstar.

The first drop is already available, with the second drop due 15 June 2020.

In accordance with celebrations, Adidas is also pledging $250,000 to The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organisation for LGBTQ youth.

Partnering with Pacific Pride Foundation for a fifth year, the UGGPRIDE campaign features friends of the brand photographed at PROUD Prom in February – an annual party hosted at our headquarters that welcomes LGBTQ+ and allied youth from California.

Combining slipper and sandal into a statement shoe, the Fluff Yeah features rainbow sheepskin, whilst the durable sole and elastic heel strap are ideal for those on the move. The collections are available now.

To complement the capsule collection, UGG are donating $125,000 to GLAAD – a nonprofit accelerating acceptance and advancing equality for the LGBTQ+ community.

For the fifth anniversary of Converse’s Pride Collection, the brand has unleashed its most extensive assortment of footwear yet.

The Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All-Star are served up in a wide range of rainbow-infused options, with the trademark palette adorning the uppers, tongue pull-tabs, midsoles, and outsoles.

Nine different options have been made in adult sizes, with seven Highs and two Lows offered up to consumers who want to celebrate Pride Month in their own distinct way.

In the past years, Converse has donated more than $1 million in support of local and global LGBTQIA+ organisations.

This year, the brand selected four major organisations working to empower the community and advocate for their rights to benefit from the 2020 Pride Collection: It Gets Better ProjectAli Forney CenterBAGLY and OUT MetroWest.

The power of inclusion carries into this year’s Converse Pride collection, which is inspired by the More Colour, More Pride flag. The Converse By You customisation platform offers design options that reflect this inclusivity and are inspired by bisexual, pansexual, non-binary and transgender flags.

Amber Hikes, the civil rights activist who conceptualised the modern rainbow striping in 2017, said: "When we expand our understanding of a concept, in this instance Pride, we provide so much more space for everyone else."
