Footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic launches line ahead of Euro 2016

Football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has unveiled his new training wear line A-Z ahead of the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament which kicks off in France this weekend.

The Swedish born Paris Saint German star, who is tipped for a move to Manchester United this summer, has been developing the line with Petter Varner, head of Scandinavian textiles group Varner, for around 18 months.

It includes tops, bottoms, underwear and (arriving soon) outerwear for men and juniors. Prices start at £8.95 for socks moving up to £74.95 for zip-through jackets. Tops include short-sleeve and long-sleeve crew-neck T-shirts and tanks while bottoms include shorts, full-length and cropped-leg joggers.

The silhouette is slim and the palette is muted and sophisticated in shades of charcoal, stone and navy with a shot of dark red. The garments all feature a discreet print of the brands's legend "it's not about the gear". The brand's philosophy is all about the effort the wearer puts in while wearing it and not about the gear itself. A-Z also dismisses the idea that wearers need many different types of gear for different types of training.

While it is designed for training (Ibrahimovic has described himself as a "training maniac"), A-Z certainly has streetwear, or "athleisure", appeal although Ibrahimovic told US Vogue he'd never heard of the term. A-Z is available online with dedicated sites for a number of European countries, including the UK, and an international site.

NikeLab recently paired up with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing to produce a premium football range, Football Nouveau, ahead of the Euro 2016 tournament. Ibrahimovic's line however, will endure long after the tournament has ended.
