Footasylum to upsize at Manchester Arndale as it commits to new long-term lease
Footasylum has signed a 20-year lease renewal at Manchester Arndale shopping centre, and now plans to upsize to 17,000 sq ft with a modern flagship refit “designed to enhance the customer experience”.
The new store will showcase the retailer’s full product offering of trainers and streetwear from brands including Nike, Adidas, Monterrain and Dripmade.
Footasylum’s recommitment comes in the wake of prominent new arrivals at Manchester Arndale, including Arc’teryx, Alo Yoga and ProDirect.
Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, said: “We are thrilled that Footasylum has chosen to not only renew but significantly expand its presence at Manchester Arndale.
This is a testament to the strength of the centre and its ability to attract and retain leading retail brands.”
In July, Footasylum reported a record-breaking financial year for FY25, with revenue climbing 9.4% to £349.5 million, up from £319.5 million the previous year.
The business also delivered significant profit growth across all categories thanks to its investment in exclusive brands, store expansion and digital innovation.
Footasylum's store opening and refurbishment programme continued throughout FY25, with key openings included Union Square in Aberdeen, Frenchgate in Doncaster and the Metro Centre in Gateshead.
Further store openings are in the pipeline moving forward, as well as an upsized flagship at the Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre in the first quarter of 2026.
In autumn 2024, Footasylum secured a £35 million Revolving Credit Facility from HSBC to accelerate its growth plans across the UK.
