Footasylum is upsizing its retail space at Merry Hill Shopping Centre in the West Midlands, going from 3,000 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft.

The footwear and apparel retailer has operated at the centre for several years and the new space will combine its original unit with the adjacent space "to create a modern and engaging shopping experience".

Shoppers will benefit from faster checkout times through the introduction of a new mobile payment system, with technology playing an important role in enhancing the overall aesthetic of the store through the use of digital screens.

The expanded store will also have an extended range of men’s and junior apparel and footwear, as well as the introduction of a dedicated Footasylum women’s space, which will see the retailer offer brands such as Nike, Adidas and Forena to bring more variety and choice to its womenswear customers.

Shannon Osman, Head of Retail at Footasylum, said: "We are excited to announce the forthcoming opening of our newly expanded and enhanced Footasylum store at Merry Hill. With a strong and loyal customer base in the West Midlands, we are delighted to provide them with an elevated in-store shopping experience that reflects our commitment to excellence."

Alistair Winning, Asset Manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, on behalf of Merry Hill, added: "Footasylum is the latest in a long line of top quality brands that have invested in Merry Hill, and this upsize from a tenant that has been with us for many years shows just how profitable the centre is."

The news follows the announcement that Footasylum achieved its "best-ever financial performance" for the financial year ending 27 January 2024.
