Frasers Group’s premium fashion retailer Flannels is backing digital-first fashion platform HEAT, known for its luxury fashion mystery box concept, on its new Ignite Prize for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.

The launch comes under the umbrella of Flannels’ ongoing Youth-Phoria programme, which is “championing the excellence and ambition of a new generation”.

Youth culture experts HEAT has invited digital-first young entrepreneurs from across the UK to apply. Applicants must be aged between 18-25, with either a business idea or a business that was started under five years ago that applies to one or more of the prize categories of; fashion, innovation and circularity.

The three winning businesses in each category will be awarded a £10,000 grant, a year of mentorship from HEAT founders Joe Wilkinson and Mario Maher and wider panellists, and “an opportunity to show up within the Flannels business based on the winning business’ needs”.

Joining Wilkinson and Maher on the judging panel, is Chief Marketing Officer at Frasers Group, Beckie Stanion, among others.

Stanion said: “Flannels is proud to be able to offer real support to future business leaders through the HEAT Ignite Prize. Our current Youth-Phoria scheme is truly a platform for all of the ability and drive that we see in the next generation, so it was vital that we were able to launch an initiative like this. I’m looking forward to seeing the applications and am hopeful we will get to see some brilliant entrepreneurs from all over the UK.”

HEAT has gained viral attention from industry and shoppers alike since the introduction of its innovative luxury mystery box concept in 2019, and is now set to “find and accelerate the next wave of future leaders”.

HEAT Co-Founder Wilkinson commented: ‘We’re looking forward to being able to support future entrepreneurs; encouraging young people to get behind great business ideas is something we’re passionate about. It’s amazing to be able to share some of our experiences building HEAT to help bring new businesses to life.”

Applications must display a clear and concise digital-first business concept, including how it solves a current industry ‘problem’, indication of how the grant would be invested and a topline 1-3 year business plan.

The application window closes on 9 June and the three selected prize-winners will be announced on Wednesday 5 July 2023.
