London-based footwear brand FitFlop has opened a 969 sq ft store in Puerto Banús, Marbella, Spain - its first ever standalone store in Europe and a new retail concept for the brand.

It’s in partnership with Albion 1879, a company with over 30 years’ experience in developing and managing international brands in the Iberian Peninsula, which also operates points of sale in Puerto Banús for AllSaints and UGG.

The new store marks a key milestone in the brand’s European retail expansion strategy, designed around FitFlop’s signature biomechanical technology.

The space invites consumers “to discover the science-led comfort that underpins every product”, brought to life through digital storytelling and considered product presentation.

Puerto Banús was selected for its position as a high-performing international luxury retail destination, offering consistent year-round footfall and “strong alignment with the brand’s premium positioning”.

David Schüttenkopf, Chief Commercial Officer at FitFlop, said: “The store opening in Marbella marks our first freestanding FitFlop concept store in Europe - a true milestone for the brand and a powerful step forward in Spain.

“Albion 1879 has been an outstanding partner, and together with El Corte Inglés and other local key strategic retailers, we are accelerating brand visibility and activation across the market. I’m extremely proud of the team - this is just the beginning of our journey across Spain and mainland Europe.”

The new store concept serves as a scalable blueprint for future FitFlop openings across Europe.

Albion 1879 has a well-established wholesale distribution network, with presence in major department stores such as El Corte Inglés and a carefully selected range of multi-brand retail outlets.

It also manages its own stores, pop-ups and hybrid formats, “ensuring balanced coverage and sustainable expansion” for the brands it represents.

FitFlop was founded in 2007 by Marcia Kilgore and is best known for creating biomechanically engineered, comfortable footwear - including sandals, sneakers and boots.
