Fiorucci appoints Daniel Fletcher as menswear Creative Director

Italian cult brand Fiorucci has appointed British designer Daniel Fletcher as its new Creative Director of Menswear as it looks to grow the category and launch accessories including bags and shoes.

The role of Creative Director of Menswear is a newly created role, with Fletcher hoping to take on the challenges of rebooting menswear for Fiorucci and increasing recognition to today’s luxury consumer.

Fletcher, who was a 2017 LVMH Prize nominee, will split time between Fiorucci and his own Daniel W. Fletcher label and will show his first collection for the house at London Fashion Week: Men’s in January 2020.

Fiorucci co-owner Janie Schaffer has detailed to Vogue that she had been keeping an eye on Fletcher, who graduated from Central Saint Martins and has worked at Louis Vuitton and Victoria Beckham. She says: "Because Daniel has his own line, not only does he have a commercial eye, but he really understands the process of design to manufacturing and how that needs to work. More importantly, I felt that he would bring an intellect to the brand."
