Fendi sets stage for Maria Grazia Chiuri's new era with grand Harrods reopening
Fendi has today unveiled its newly expanded and renovated women’s ready-to-wear boutique inside Harrods, as a bold statement of confidence in London’s luxury market - and perhaps a symbolic prelude to its next creative chapter under Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The Italian house has increased its Harrods footprint by 50 square metres, bringing the total to 175 sqm, transforming the space into an immersive reflection of its Roman roots: part temple, part atelier, part modern gallery.
The design, divided into three rooms, reinterprets the brand’s native Rome through architectural language: Palladiana flooring in Travertino Ascoli and Giallo Valencia marble, Calce Romana walls and columnar details that nod to the city’s ancient architecture. A VIP Salon can also be accessed via a disguised passageway from the boutique’s exterior.

But this expansion is about more than marble and ceramics. It’s arriving at a pivotal moment for Fendi, following the announcement that Maria Grazia Chiuri will join the house as Creative Director. Chiuri’s appointment came six months after her departure from Dior, where she served as Womenswear Creative Director and became the first woman to lead the brand’s design team.
This is a full-circle moment for the designer. Chiuri’s career at Fendi, from 1989 to 1999, included ten years in accessories design, where she notably helped shape the house’s signature Baguette bag.

In this context, the new Harrods boutique feels like both a physical and symbolic transition: a space built to house the next chapter of Fendi femininity. Chiuri’s arrival signals a potential shift in tone, from Kim Jones’s architectural sensuality and tailoring towards something more romantic and feminine.
Fendi’s London expansion also speaks to the brand’s ongoing global strategy under Chairman and CEO Ramon Ros and the LVMH group as they set out to focus on flagship experiences. Harrods and its grandeur offer a fitting stage for this evolution.
The next chapter of Fendi begins here, under the gilded lights of Harrods, on one of the most coveted floors in London, with history and a hint of change in the air.
