Fashion Scout names its Ones to Watch for SS18

Fashion Scout, the international showcase for fashion pioneers, named its four "Ones to Watch" for SS18 on the opening day of London Fashion Week.

NEO design, Ji Won Choi, Triinu Pungits and Starsica were selected from a long list of designers by an industry panel led by Fashion Scout founder and director Martyn Roberts and presented their collections in a collaborative show, which was styled by adviser to The Industry Rebekah Roy.

Ji Won Choi is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York. Her thesis collection EXCESSIVISM won the Kering Empowering Imagination Award and the Yooxygen Award by YOOX. It highlights the excessive waste in closets around the world and every collection is seasonless and genderless.

The Starsica brand originates from the "Star Seeker" wise man character from a fantasy novel. The collection's DNA originates from the philosophical reasoning of phenomenon. It emphasises luxurious everyday wear "seen through the lens of an anxious modern society".

Estonian fashion designer Triinu Pungits has taken part in numerous fashion shows and exhibitions, receiving international praise for her work, and has been featured in Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Glamour and Elle Russia. Pungits champions texture, shape, cut, pattern placement and self-confidence with her hand-made, one-of-a-kind coats being her signature item.

NEO design brings traditional techniques of making clothing and jewellery to the modern age in which "functionality will benefit from a tradition inspired by simplicity". In the past year NEO design has been awarded multiple prizes including Fashion Scout South.East.Europe Award and was a European finalist for the The Woolmark Prize.

Roberts said of the line up: "This season’s Ones to Watch truly demonstrates what the award was created to showcase. Our most international show to date, the diverse nature of cultures and styles exhibited by our winners for this season come together in the highlight of the SS18 schedule."

Past winners of the Ones to Watch accolade, which has been running since 2009, include Eudon Choi, Georgia Hardinge and Phoebe English.
