Farfetch will ban the sale of Angora wool, says PETA

The animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has announced that from April 2022 British retailer Farfetch will ban the sale of Angora wool on its platform.

PETA said that it had been lobbying Farfetch to ban Angora wool, which comes from rabbits, since the retailer announced that it would ban fur in April 2019.

An exposé by PETA on Chinese Angora farms revealed unethical treatment of rabbits whose fur was plucked while they were fully conscious.

Farfetch's announcement follows in the footsteps of over 340 designers and retailers, including Burberry, Gucci and the Selfridges Group that have already banned Angora wool.
