FARFETCH BEAT launches limited edition Palm Angels ‘University’ sneakers

FARFETCH has today launched exclusive customisable ‘University’ sneakers from LA-based luxury streetwear brand Palm Angels - the seventh release in the FARFETCH BEAT new concept series that “introduces exclusive product experiences to a global audience”.

For BEAT 007, Palm Angels Creative Director, Francesco Ragazzi, has created limited edition versions of the brand’s iconic ‘University’ sneaker in four different colourways, with FARFETCH customers able to personalise each pair with different sneaker charms to create their own one-off designs.

Each pair of sneakers is presented in bespoke BEAT packaging with a unique tote bag and choice of sneaker charms, as well as an exclusive invite to attend the Palm Angels AW23 show in Paris.

The Palm Angels ‘University’ sneaker takes inspiration from the classic American college looks and is “characterised by a vintage style and timeless silhouette”. The sneakers come in a soft calf leather and suede, combined with a super light rubber sole.

Francesco Ragazzi said: “For this project, I wanted to literally bring the customers into our world. Palm Angels, before being a brand, was born as a photography book featuring black and white photography of the Los Angeles skateboard scene that I took in 2011. There’s a picture in the book that is so vivid, portraying a skater with long blonde hair. That picture is now featured on the exclusive and numbered tote bags that customers will receive with the University sneakers.

“The idea behind the University sneaker was to design a shoe that perfectly merged the sense of freedom typical of skate culture with the sports aesthetics of the 1980s. The sneakers are the brand's ultimate iconic shoe. I hope customers will enjoy them as much as I did designing them.”

The sneakers are available from today, 25 January 2023, exclusively on FARFETCH, with prices starting from £465.
