Sainsbury's has put former John Lewis fashion buying director Christine Kasoulis in charge of its non-foods businesses. In her new position she will lead the retailer's fashion, furniture and home departments.

Kasoulis left John Lewis after 32 years in 2021 to focus on her MBA. She first joined the company in 2007 as head of buying home, and was later promoted to fashion buying director in 2017.

At Sainsbury's she will be reunited with her former colleague former John Lewis chief Paula Nickolds, who joined the grocery business last year as General Merchandise and Clothing Commercial Director

Tu clothing, Sainsbury's in-house fashion arm recently reported "strong" sales over the half-year period to 18 September 2021, adding that it had reduced promotions and grown full-price sales.

Apart from Tu Clothing, Sainsbury's non-food businesses include catalogue retailer Argos and the furniture and homewear business Habitat, as well as its Bank and Energy offerings.
