Fashion Leaders Breakfast: Maximise margins and sell-through with smarter markdowns

17th of September

Markdown strategies for fashion brands and retailers were once relatively straightforward; an accepted set of rules and gut feel were often all that were needed.

In today’s market, however, things are far more complex, as brands trade across multiple channels and geographies, often with a pre-loved model added to the mix. On top of this unstable geopolitics, unseasonal weather, intense competition and unpredictable consumer demand make the task complex and fraught with risk.

Done right, however, markdowns can provide a huge opportunity, when it comes to stock clearance and customer acquisition. But a more nuanced, faster and flexible approach is needed.

AI tools such as the Markmi assistant are now able to take the guesswork out of markdowns and significantly reduce the workload involved. Fashion brands typically report a 3-7% increase in margin and an 80-95% reduction in workload, freeing up merchandising teams for more strategic work and bringing predictability and confidence to finance departments.

Markmi works with leading fashion retailers across Europe, including C&A, New Yorker, Gina Tricot and MQ Marqet.

Join us on 17 September, ahead of the key peak trading period, at Michelin Star restaurant Hide, in London’s Mayfair, for an intimate and interactive roundtable. This event will be attended by senior fashion industry professionals who can exchange ideas and experiences with their peers and learn from experts at Markmi on how AI can:

  • Forecast demand with fashion-specific accuracy, factoring in seasonality, product lifecycle and channel
  • Protect margins by identifying the right markdown depth at the right moment
  • Compare scenarios side by side, to understand the impact of a markdown before it takes place
  • Reduce excess stock, minimise waste and therefore improve sustainability.

As an exclusive benefit for brands joining us on the 17th, every attendee is offered a free, fully personalised analysis of their organization's markdown strategy. This will include an introduction to new technologies making a difference, a breakdown of the biggest opportunities for improvement in your unique markdown process, and best practices from leading fashion retailers that look just like yours. On top of that, retailers will receive a concrete business case showing the financial impact they're currently missing. No obligation, just real value, exclusively for those present during the breakfast session.

The event is held under Chatham House rules to allow free conversation. You will also enjoy a delicious breakfast at one of London’s most desirable Michelin-starred restaurants and receive a luxury Diptyque gift as a thank you for attending.
