The Eurovision Song Contest 2020 creative team is expanding, with designer Diek Pothoven appointed as Head of Fashion. In this new role, Diek is responsible for the look and feel of the singers and dancers during the special acts for the 2 semi-final shows as well as the Grand Final.

Together with the rest of the creative team, Diek is there to ensure that each act gets the unique look they are going for and fairness is kept across the board. It is essential to Diek that the 2020 Contest tells a story.

Diek Pothoven works with Luuk Kuijf as Co-Creative Director at the helm of design studio MARTAN, in which he creates fashion collections, shows and films.

Commenting about the appointment, Diek said: "For the artists and dancers in the special acts, we are going to design complete collections that have to convey the artistic message. We are very much looking forward to showing what we can create to such a large audience; not just to dress the artists and dancers, but to develop their spectacular outfits in collaboration with top Dutch studios."

Gerben Bakker, Head of Show for Eurovision 2020 said: "We have asked talented young designer Diek Pothoven to surprise Europe with quirky choices when it comes to the clothing of artists and dancers. Every act is unique and requires a different approach. With Pothoven’s academic background and position within the fashion industry, the Eurovision Song Contest will take on the high-end character it deserves. In addition, his creative approach will showcase an exceptional fashion show for the 180 million viewers worldwide."

The UK is yet to announce their entry to Eurovision, which means the creative team are also yet to be decided, but an announcement is expected before mid-March.

The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest on 12, 14 and 16 May at the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
