Era Zero Waste launches “milkman model” for personal and haircare products

New personal and haircare brand, Era Zero Waste has launched a refillable shopping platform to help shoppers reduce their plastic waste.

The new platform is based on the ‘milkman model’, which allows shoppers to have their personal and haircare products refilled at home through a bike refill station or carbon neutral mail.

Shoppers have the option to choose from six products, including a hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand moisturiser, body wash and dish soap.

Co-founder of Era Zero, Livia Zimermann said: “I wanted to be more sustainable, but making my own personal care products or shopping packaging-free seemed so inconvenient.”

“This inspired Era’s mission: to make it easy for everyone to live zero-waste and make an impact.”

Era Zero Waste has also pledged to researching performance-led ingredients for its product range.

The brand’s service is not unlike TerraCycle’s Loop platform, which allows shoppers to ‘responsibly’ consume products in refillable packaging which is collected, cleaned, and reused.

Loop provide customers with a 100% refundable deposit to borrow the packaging, allowing the company to professionally clean and reuse packaging once the product is finished.

Following its launch in the UK earlier this year, Loop has partnered up with a number of  beauty brands including REN, Bulldog, Nivea, Love Beauty and Planet.
