Emma Hill To Launch Accessories Label

The Industry London
20 June 2015

Emma Hill, former star creative director at Mulberry, has just announced the launch of her own accessories label by the end of the year. The project, Hill & Friends, is a collaboration between Emma and Georgia Fendley, a long-time friend and former brand director at Mulberry. The label should launch during a presentation at London Fashion Week in September and be ready to hit the stores for Spring 2016, according to WWD. As a designer who's always captured the zeitgeist of our digital generation, Emma will have a capsule collection available to shop the very next day on both the label's own website and Net-a-Porter.com.

This will be the first fashion project for Emma since she left the distressed English house exactly two years ago this month. Emma invigorated Mulberry with a young outlook and heightened product desirability in a way that no other Mulberry designer ever had. Her resigning left the house struggling to survive in the ruthless world of luxury retail.

Ironically, Mulberry is expecting its new creative director, Johnny Coca formerly of Céline, to step into Emma's previous role next month—a role left unattended until now. Hill & Friends will no doubt encounter great success if Emma's previous track record is anything to go by. Ready-to-wear is a planned extension to the business but Hill & Friends will focus all of their energy on accessories for now, hoping to open stores in London and New York.
