Ellesse reveals Keith Haring capsule collection for AW23

Sports and lifestyle distribution company and Ellesse license holders for the UK, Focus Brands, has unveiled a capsule collection featuring the iconic artwork of LGBTQ+ designer Keith Haring for AW23.

The collection is a fusion of Ellesse’s classic fits with Keith Haring’s instantly recognisable art, “bringing together two 80s legends”. It features casual separates in seasonal brown and cream, with a pop of detail from Keith Haring’s catalogue of iconic work.

Mix-and-match men’s and women’s joggers and shorts are complemented by T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatshirts and a tracksuit in relaxed fits and comfort fabrics. Alongside the apparel pieces there is a small selection of accessories includes hats, a backpack, slides and trainers.

The partnership is a result of a Focus Brands collaboration with Artestar, a global licensing agency and creative consultancy representing high-profile artists, photographers, designers, and creatives.

Keith Haring’s artwork responded to urban street culture of the 1980s and was inspired by the graffiti artists whose marks covered the New York subway. He started out drawing in white chalk over the black paper used to cover vacant advertising panels.

Throughout his career, Haring produced murals, sculptures, and paintings to benefit hospitals, underprivileged children’s groups, and various community health organisations. Before his death in February 1990, Keith Haring established a foundation in his name to maintain and enhance his legacy of giving to children’s and AIDS organisations.
