EgonLab marks inaugural runway show with NFT launch
Parisian label EgonLab has marked its official runway show debut with its first collection of NFTs, embracing both traditional fashion parades and the fast-growing virtual world.
Launched in 2019 by Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix, the genderless French label presented its Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, Egonimati, at Paris Fashion Week today.
The 2021 Pierre Bergé prize winner has also collaborated with Crocs to produce five NFTs, one for each Swarovski crystals-adorned pair that was showcased on the show. The Egonlab x Crocs NFTs will be available for auction on digital marketplace OpenSea, at 17:30 CET when the label’s first on-schedule show kicks off.
Winners of the action will also receive a physical pair of footwear matching their digital pair, sealed in a glass case and emblazoned with the words "Ceci n’est pas une Crocs" ("this is not a crocs").
Egonlab's website will also open up to reveal their own metaverse. Created in collaboration with Paris-based creative studio Cosmic Shelter, the digital space will offer an immersive experience in a temple dedicated to the Egonimati, a fictional secret society that underpins the label’s fall 2022 season.
Users stepping through the temple’s entrance will be able to explore a gallery of the label’s NFTs, along with Easter egg features, Crocs' collaboration with the label and explore a room dedicated to the music created for Egonlab shows.
