eBay opens Love Island shared wardrobe to public for the first time

eBay UK is inviting fans to step inside the Love Island shared wardrobe for the very first time. Guests can browse iconic Islander pieces, select a pre-loved item inspired by Villa fashion and have a style session with eBay’s Pre-Loved Style Director, Amy Bannerman.

From Tasha Ghouri’s yellow Versace two-piece, re-worn by Olivia Hawkins, to the red Jean Paul Gaultier co-ord, re-worn by Liberty Poole, the Islanders are the perfect example of sharing and re-wearing. This new initiative is eBay's way of encouraging the nation to embrace re-wearing.

Sharing fashion is a growing trend with 60% of 18-34 year olds borrowing each other’s clothes – and more than a third (35%) of Gen Z shoppers are more open to doing so than they were a year ago. 27% of Gen Z share clothes with their friends, while 16% borrow from their partner’s wardrobe as it’s cheaper than buying something new.

eBay UK, which recently announced it's sponsoring Love Island season 11,  is opening ‘The Nation’s Shared Wardrobe’ on Wednesday 5 June in Shoreditch.

How it works:

  • Attendees are encouraged to bring an item they’ve previously worn but no longer love and get a ‘new to you’ pre-owned item from the wardrobe.
  • Amy Bannerman will be styling attendees in an item they love with fashion including House of CB tops and Rat & Boa dresses.
  • Ticket holders will also get a first-hand look at several archive pieces worn by Islanders on the show.
  • eBay’s Pre-loved Ambassador and Islander Tom Clare will be opening the wardrobe. Meanwhile, a Colourologist will be on hand for advice.

Tickets will be rolled out over the coming days. For those who can’t make it, head online to eBay to shop Islander-inspired outfits on a dedicated hub from 27 May.

eBay’s Pre-Loved Style Director, Amy Bannerman said: "Seeing amazing pre-loved pieces re-appearing each season – like the men’s tie-dye Stussy Jacket, the blue latex Versace dress, and the Rat and Boa dresses – is such a joy.

"By opening up the coveted Love Island wardrobe to fans, we’re proving the power of circular fashion."

‘The Nation’s Shared Wardrobe’ builds on eBay’s pre-loved fashion experience going live earlier this year, including AI-powered listings and personalised shopping feeds. What's more, last month eBay announced that it has abolished seller's fees.
