Dr. Martens strengthens board with new Non-Executive Director
Dr. Martens has appointed Melanie Richards as an Independent Non-Executive Director, taking effect from the conclusion of the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 15 July 2026.
It follows the company’s prior announcement on 27 May 2026 that Lynne Weedall would step down from the board following the 2026 AGM.
Richards is the former Deputy Chair of KPMG UK and currently serves as Chair of Azets and as a Non-Executive Director of Morgan Stanley & Co. International and HKA Global.
She brings broad-based executive, commercial, financial and capital markets experience, together with significant board and advisory experience and a strong track record of contributing to strategic direction and commercial performance in “complex organisations”.
Upon joining the board, Richards will be appointed Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Nomination Committee, and will also become a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee, while Andrew Harrison, Independent Non-Executive Director, will be appointed Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
Paul Mason, Chairman of Dr. Martens, said: “We are delighted to welcome Melanie to the board. Her extensive board experience, together with her valuable financial and commercial insight and fresh perspective, will strengthen the board as we continue to execute our consumer-first strategy and deliver long-term sustainable growth.
“We are also pleased that Andrew brings both continuity and experience as he becomes Chair of the Remuneration Committee.”
In May, Dr. Martens reported a return to profit growth for the financial year ending 29 March 2026, with pre-tax profit (PBT) rising 61% as the business continued its transition from a channel-led to a consumer-first operating model.
Following the boost in profit, last month it was announced that Dr. Martens CEO Ije Nwokorie purchased company shares worth about £85,600.
