Dr. Martens reveals part one of Rick Owens collaboration

Tom Bottomley
16 March 2021

British footwear brand Dr. Martens is collaborating with “sartorially radical” designer Rick Owens on a two-part collaboration, with the first available this Saturday 20 March, priced at a hefty £299.

Dr. Martens says Owens is “known for his post-apocalyptic reimagination of brutalist fashion,” and the brand is calling it one of its “boldest collaborations to date,” as well as “long overdue.”

The collection is described as an exploration of Rick Owens’ dark, underground aesthetic applied to a classic DM’s silhouette. The March drop features a Dr. Martens 1460 Bex platform sole boot, which rose to notoriety in the 90’s with the grunge look, wrapped with Rick Owens’ signature lacing system.

The boot comes in a smooth black leather, complete with an additional pair of black laces, as well as a dual-branded sock liner and taupe heel loop. It also features a double-height Bex sole to stand out from the crowd even more.

It’s to be sold through drmartens.com/collaborations/rick-owens and select partners, with the second drop scheduled for May, 2021.
