Dr. Martens reunites with The Great Frog for ‘Born To Be Different’ collection
Dr. Martens has teamed up with rock ‘n’ roll jewellery brand The Great Frog for a second collaboration under the banner of ‘Born To Be Different’.
Nodding to both brands’ strong connections with British counterculture, the collection "continues a mutual embrace of the unordinary", and features three "hardware-heavy" silhouettes: the Dr Martens 1460 boot, ‘Ramsey’ creeper and 7” crossbody satchel. Buckles have been hand-carved by The Great Frog Creative Director, Reino Lehtonen-Riley.
"Since the success of the first DM’s x TGF collection, I have been able to explore design ideas inspired by the roots of both The Great Frog and Dr. Martens; the early days of classic British rock ‘n’ roll culture — but reinventing it through a modern lens with a new British youth culture DIY punk aesthetic," said Lehtonen-Riley.

The Great Frog is best known for its rock ‘n’ roll skull rings, pendants, bracelets and earrings. Founded on Carnaby Street in 1972 by Lehtonen-Riley’s mother and father, Carol Lehtonen and Patterson Riley, it has been the music business go-to jewellery for everyone from Keith Richards to Jay Z.
The Great Frog also has a current collaboration collection with The Rolling Stones, and previous collaborators have included Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead and Motley Crew.
Modern day clientele includes Harry Styles, Dua Lipa and Skepta, while further collaborations have been with Dover Street Market and British menswear brand Percival.
The accompanying campaign shoot for the latest Dr. Martens collaboration collection features emerging singer-songwriter Florence Rose, stylist and visual artist Beau Tiger Rae, and model Mars Chen – celebrating "unrelenting self-expression".
The overall vibe is decidedly rock ‘n’ roll, with a nod to both brands’ roots in subcultures and music iconography. The new collection is available from 26 July on the Dr. Martens website and through select retailers.
