Dr Martens launches new ‘Buzz’ collection inspired by its 90s archive
Dr Martens has today launched a new women’s chunky footwear collection for SS25 called ‘Buzz’, which takes inspiration from its 90s archive.
Described as "bold, bouncy and barrel-edged, with bubble branding to boot", the new Buzz platform comes in a five-eye lace-up style and a double strap sandal.
A statement leaf pattern features on the undersole, and the shoes are marked with Dr Martens’ signature grooving pattern.
Stitched with contours that echo the curvature of the sole and tagged with rubberised bubble brand patches, the Buzz shoe is fitted with padded ankle collars for extra cushioning alongside the trademark Dr. Martens bouncing sole construction and secured with yellow welt stitching.
Dr Martens Footwear Designer, Bridie Husband, said: "The Buzz has a sporty, streetwear aesthetic that our wearers haven’t seen from us in recent seasons.
"We’ve seen a big shift in women’s footwear trends being heavily rooted in the 90s and nostalgia, so it’s the perfect time to bring back elements of such a sought-after archive shoe."
The collection is available in a variety of statement colours, patterns, and materials, including textured ‘Hair On’ leather with a leopard print, ‘Grizzly’ and ‘Milled Nappa’ leather, and durable EH Suede.
The first Buzz drop is available online and in-store from 6 February 2025, with more options to be added in future seasons.
Last week, StockX, the US-based online resale marketplace for sneakers, shoes, apparel and accessories, reported a shift in the most popular footwear silhouettes and a growing demand for more experimental, yet comfortable choices. Dr. Martens could well be tapping into that trend with its new ‘Buzz’ line.
