Dolce & Gabbana boss considers stock market listing
Luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is reportedly considering opening up its capital to the public via a debut on the stock market.
"We are now ready to consider opening our capital to third parties through a listing or other financial instruments", D&G CEO Alfonso Dolce said in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera’s L’Economia.
The financing must, however, "not compromise the ethical value of our company and its respectful growth strategies", he added.
It comes after fellow luxury brand Golden Goose confirmed it will launch an IPO on the Euronext Milan this year. In addition, Birkenstock went public in October 2023 with a £6.8 billion ($8.6 billion) listing.
In May, Dolce & Gabbana did not rule out a potential stock market listing but said it was not a priority, Reuters reported at the time.
For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, which ended in March, Dolce & Gabbana's revenue was up by 17% to £1.575 billion (€1.871 billion).
During the interview, Dolce said he expects a similar rate of growth this year, adding: "The US is vital, we already have 72 stores, plus four in Canada, together they represent 28% of our turnover, compared to 16% in China."
In the upcoming 18 months, the Italian powerhouse will open 12 new stores in the US, including one at 695 Madison Avenue in New York, with more than 2,000 square metres over five floors.
In the UK, Dolce & Gabbana operates a number of stores across London, including Sloane Street, Brompton Road and Old Bond Street, which last year welcomed a new "beauty corner" to showcase its fragrance and makeup offer.
