Dolce & Gabbana has confirmed it will stop using animal fur in all its collections starting this year and transition to eco-friendly faux fur.

The luxury fashion brand will now produce eco-fur garments and accessories, made from a sustainable faux fur alternative that uses recycled and recyclable materials.

The new policy is supported by the Humane Society, in accordance with the guidelines of the Fur Free Alliance.

Dolce & Gabbana joins the growing international list of brands who have committed to exclude real fur from their collections including Armani, Gucci, Prada, Yoox Net-a-Porter and most recently, Moncler banning real fur in its collections from AW23.

Fedele Usai, Group Communication & Marketing Officer at Dolce & Gabbana, said: “Dolce & Gabbana is working towards a more sustainable future that can’t contemplate the use of animal fur.

"The entire fashion system has a significant social responsibility role that must be promoted and encouraged. We will integrate innovative materials into our collections and develop environmentally friendly production processes, while at the same time preserve artisans’ jobs."

Claire Bass, Executive Director of Humane Society International and UK, added: “This fur-free announcement from Dolce & Gabbana marks another momentous milestone in the fall of the cruel fur trade, coming only a few weeks after Italy voted to outlaw fur farming.

"We celebrate Dolce & Gabbana's decision and welcome its commitment to preserving artisans’ jobs and skills with the use of innovative fur-free materials. It’s time for the UK government to heed the wishes of the British public and consign fur cruelty to the history books by introducing legislation to ban the import and sale of real animal fur as soon as possible."
