Disney has confirmed the closure of its retail location in Westfield Stratford, one of the retail destinations last original tenants, having opened the store in 2011.

The closure is part of the company's plan to close 20% of its brick-and-mortar Disney Stores before the end of the year as it shifts more focus to its e-commerce business.

Disney plans to improve its current ShopDisney website and increase its product assortment to include more adult apparel collections, streetwear, premium home products and collectibles.

Disney is expected to share more details about its website update and product releases in the near future, including the release of its 2021 LGBTQ+ Pride collection.

Disney has confirmed it will remain flexible in its approach and continue to evolve its retail strategy to best meet the needs of consumers when and where they want. Guests will continue to have access to Disney shopping experiences in 600+ Disney Parks stores, shop-in-shops, lifestyle and outlet locations, as well as third party retailers around the world.

A spokesperson for The Disney Store told TheIndustry.fashion: "The evaluation of our Stores business in Europe remains ongoing. We are currently in consultation with an initial group of Stores in the UK and as a result of this process, we will be closing our Stratford Store in June 2021."
