Dior appoints Jonathan Anderson's long-time muse Josh O’Connor as ambassador
Dior has appointed British actor Josh O’Connor as a new house ambassador, further strengthening Jonathan Anderson’s inner creative circle as the designer continues to define a new era at the French luxury house.
The maison said it was "delighted to welcome Josh O’Connor as the new ambassador for Jonathan Anderson’s collections," positioning the actor as a key figure in Dior’s evolving menswear and womenswear narrative under Anderson’s leadership.
O’Connor rose to international prominence for his portrayal of Prince Charles in The Crown, winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, and has since built a reputation for critically acclaimed roles, including Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers. Dior described him as embodying "a singular, sensitive and undeniably modern expression of masculine elegance," closely aligned with the house’s direction.
The appointment adds O’Connor to Dior’s growing roster of brand ambassadors and reunites him with Anderson, with whom he shares a longstanding creative relationship. During his tenure at Loewe, Anderson named O’Connor as the house’s first menswear ambassador in 2017, later casting him in several campaigns and establishing the actor as a recurring muse.
The move follows Anderson’s highly anticipated Dior debut at Paris Fashion Week last October, where he unveiled his first womenswear collection for the house. Featuring exaggerated bows, punk-inflected plaids and romantic buccaneer-style headwear, the show marked a clear dialogue between Dior’s heritage and Anderson’s own eclectic design language. It was also historically significant, making Anderson the first Creative Director since Christian Dior himself to oversee menswear, womenswear and couture.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential designers of his generation, Anderson’s arrival has been interpreted as a strategic reset for Dior.
