Eraldo Pletto, Diesel’s CEO, is leaving the company after only seven months in the role due to unspecified ‘personal reasons’.

Poletto joined Diesel, owned by OTB, in January 2022 in the role of CEO of North America and he was promoted to CEO shortly after in July, succeeding Massimo Piombini.

A spokesperson for Diesel said: “for personal reasons has decided to return to the US, where he has lived for several years with his family.”

He plans to continue to “collaborate” with the luxury brand, however, a successor has not yet been named.

Poletto previously held several leadership roles within the luxury fashion industry prior to his year-long stint at Diesel. These roles included the CEO and Brand President of Tapestry’s Stuart Weitzman from 2018 to 2020. He was also CEO of Furla from and subsequently Salvatore Ferragamo.

This news follows the brand's recent re-emergence on the fashion scene. OTB, the conglomerate which also owns Jil Sander, Maison Margiela, and Marni, decided to hire Creative Director Glenn Martens in October of 2020 to rebrand the once-forgotten label.

Martens has slingshotted the brand back to the height of its early 2000s heyday, drawinge the fashion crowd in once again.

Diesel is now one of OTB’s core portfolio brands, making up 45% of its revenues in 2021. It aims to reach revenues of between £2.13 billion (€2.4 billion) in 2024.
