Diesel appoints former Bershka boss as new CEO

Diesel has appointed Marco Agnolin as its new CEO replacing Alessandro Bogliolo who left the premium denim-led brand to join jeweller Tiffany & Co. in October.

Agnolin joins Diesel from Zara parent company Inditex where he has headed up young fashion brand Bershka since 2011. His appointment was announced just a day after it was revealed that Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti would be leaving the business after five years having not renewed his contract, which expired this month.

Diesel founder Renzo Rosso said of the appointment: "[Agnolin is] one of the most talented fashion executives worldwide and a professional whose career I have followed for a long time. His experience and personal attitude, matched with our vision of the brand, will bring about a successful future for Diesel."

Agnolin added: "All my life I have looked up to and have been inspired by one brand, and that was Diesel. Today I am happy to be part of it, looking forward to giving my contribution to the next chapters of its unique story.”

Diesel is the flagship brand of Rosso's Only The Brave (OTB) luxury group, which also includes Maison Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, Marni and Paula Cademartori.
