Dancing Leopard enters administration

Online womenswear brand Dancing Leopard has collapsed into administration, following continued challenges in 2024.

The fashion business has appointed Andrew Fender and Sandra Fender of Birmingham-based insolvency firm Sanderlings as joint administrators.

Founded in 2009 by Jade Hildreth and Jack Burrows, following a trip around the world, Dancing Leopard was inspired by the vibrant fabric markets in India. The duo set out to create colourful clothes that made people feel good.

It stocks a range of women's clothes from skirts and dresses to pyjamas and knitwear, featuring statement colours, bold prints and eco-conscious fabrics.

In its most recent accounts for the year to 31 March 2023, the company had net current assets of £843,226, down from the previous year’s total of £984,326.

At the time, directors said they were aware that "cash in the company has declined significantly in the year following a decrease in turnover and increase in expenses due to an operational change".

"The directors are happy that the company have resolved these issues and have been profitable for the final months," they added.

"The company's cash flow has became more stable, how the directors not it will take time to build back the working capital."

However, in a Christmas message on Instagram last month, Dancing Leopard shared that "this year [2024] has brought its challenges".

TheIndustry.fashion has contacted Sanderlings for comment.
