Casual footwear brand Crocs has reported record second quarter revenues, reaching $640.8m, an increase of 93.3% compared to the same period in 2020.

In the three months to 30 June 2021, revenue growth was strong in all regions, with America up 135.6%, Asia Pacific up 27.1% and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) up 52.6% on a constant currency basis versus the prior year.

Crocs are enjoying a revival in popularity on the back of major celebrity endorsements, such as Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj with sales of the customisable plastic clogs soaring by 63.6% to $460.1m in the previous quarter.

Crocs has been steadily increasing its social presence over the last year, announcing collaborations with other brands and artists, such as Benefit Cosmetics and Russia's 2020 Eurovision entry Little Big.

Digital sales grew 25.4% to represent 36.4% of revenue, compared to 56.1% and 32.6% of revenue in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Direct-to-consumer sales also grew 78.6% compared to 2020 and 86.4% compared to 2019, to represent 52.0% of second quarter revenues.

As one of the world's largest footwear companies, Crocs has also committed to becoming a net zero emissions company by 2030, prioritising the mitigation of Scope 1, 2 and 3 CO2 equivalent emissions.

The plan implemented to achieve this commitment centres on the transition to sustainable ingredients, minimising packaging, responsible resource use, and exploring innovative product afterlife solutions.

Andrew Rees, Crocs Chief Executive Officer, commented: "We continue to see strong consumer demand for the Crocs brand globally. On the back of record second quarter results and continued momentum, we are raising our full year 2021 guidance.

"We are also committing to net zero emissions by 2030, enabling us to provide 'comfort without carbon' to our customers worldwide. I believe we can deliver sustained, highly profitable growth while having a positive impact on our planet and our communities."
