Crew Clothing heads to County Durham for latest store as UK roll-out continues
Crew Clothing has opened a 750 sq ft store in Barnard Castle, 24 Market Place, County Durham, as it continues its UK retail expansion strategy that has been so prevalent throughout the past year.
The British lifestyle brand, which was founded in the back of a Salcombe windsurfing shop in 1993, opened a store at the Derbion Shopping Centre in early December - its first standalone store in the East Midlands – as well as a 1,000 sq ft store at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre in Belfast last June.
That followed on from three new Crew Clothing stores in Chiswick, Altrincham and a “bigger, better” 1,800 sq ft store on the Promenade in Cheltenham, which opened in April 2025.
The Barnard Castle store will bring the brand’s latest collections to the town, including heritage rugby shirts, polos, Oxford shirts, printed dresses and supersoft knitwear, as well as its latest SuperLuxe athleisure range, of which the second incarnation launched earlier this week, and its recently launched sixth capsule collaboration collection with Henley Royal Regatta.

Carol Kane, Head of Retail at Crew Clothing, said: “Crew has always been successful in market towns across the South of the UK, and we’ve been actively looking to expand into towns in the North that fit our brand.
“Barnard Castle is a perfect example. It’s a thriving market town with a strong community and high street, and it complements our existing stores in Northallerton, Hexham and the Lakes region.
“We know our collections will be enjoyed by both local residents and visitors to the area and will sit beautifully alongside the independent businesses and brands already on the high street. We’re excited to open our doors and become part of this community.”
Crew Clothing now has over 100 standalone stores, concessions and outlets nationwide.
