US outdoors lifestyle brand Cotopaxi has announced it is partnering with Unify Brand Partnerships, based in South Wales, as its first European distributor – focusing on the UK and Ireland – for AW20.

Unify BP managing director, Damien Cooper, said: “We are thrilled to bring this hot new brand to market in the UK and Ireland. Cotopaxi is a gamechanger in the outdoor and lifestyle spaces, representing the new wave of consumer-driven brands, empowering the public and advocating for change. We will supply a small number of carefully chosen partners in the UK across the outdoors and lifestyle sectors.”

Unify BP already represents the likes of Teva, Reef, Tretorn, Moon Boot, Stance and HOKA ONE. Cotopaxi, which launched in Salt Lake City, Utah – where it has two stores – in 2015, is one of the fastest growing outdoors apparel brands in the North American market, and is invested in sustainability, community and connectivity. Though there is a slight focus on its female customers, there are also men’s pieces as well as many unisex pieces. Colourful rucksacks are also a major focus.

Cotopaxi is the first venture capital-backed Benefit Corporation and Certified B Corp brand. As a Benefit Corporation, Cotopaxi not only earmarks 2% of proceeds for Cotopaxi Foundation grantees, but also offers an entirely repurposed collection of products, which are created from offcuts of larger production runs, creating bold, unique and limited-edition colourways.

The brand will exhibit at the ISPO Munich trade show from 26-29 January 2020, as well as showing in regional showrooms in London, Manchester and Newport.

Cotopaxi director of wholesale, Heath Christensen, added: “Cotopaxi has done direct to consumer sales already in the UK, and the reception has been positive.  The next logical step is to make our product available via Unify BP to interested retailers in the UK.

“Since the desire is to now start working with retailers in the UK, we need to start showing the AW20 line now in order to be aligned with their buying cycles. We will be introducing our new Teca fleece jacket, the Solazo insulated jacket and the Allpa Del Dia travel pack.”
