COS works with Saint London designer to present long-awaited comeback

Minimalist label, COS, is switching things up by collaborating with London-based designer Reece Yeboah, who is renowned for his streetwear influences.

COS, owned by H&M Group, came together with Reece Yeboah to create a collection that is made up of elevated wardrobe staples and street-luxe garments.

Yeboah made a name for himself under his label Saint London, which was stocked at Selfridges. However, in 2019 he closed the brand after receiving a cease and desist from the NFL, reportedly over its use of the Fleur-de-lis in the logo.

The collaboration marks the designer’s re-entry into fashion as a stand-alone creative, drawing on the founder’s upbringing between Ghana and London.

The 40-piece collection, which 'unapologetically steers away from seasonal trends', is rendered from a colour palette that combines neutral hues with vibrant yellows. COS’s classic soft tailoring effortlessly marries Yehboah’s streetwear style.

Reece Yeboah commented: “COS has been on my radar for some time and vice versa – they saw what I was doing with Saint previously, and eventually, we linked up to discuss this collaboration – the rest is history.

“I believe COS is the best regarding accessible quality, and we saw an opportunity to combine quality and innovative creativity.”

The collection, titled ‘Metamorphosis’, was presented in an off-schedule experimental show in London. Guests were invited to immerse themselves in a striking light presentation, inspired by the life cycle of butterflies. Poet James Massiah created a soundscape that tied in with the overarching theme of the collection.

Karin Gustafsson, Design Director at COS,added: "Others always inspire us – collaborating with Yeboah allowed us to explore Reece's inspirations and encouraged us to imagine our designs with a fresh perspective. Embracing the synergy between two different areas of the same industry, we hope to inspire and bring our communities together."

The limited-edition collection is available at COS stores and cos.com from 1 February 2023.
