Columbia to open European flagship on Carnaby Street

Outdoor brand Columbia is set to open a European flagship store on London's Carnaby Street marking a significant milestone for the 80-year-old brand.

The two-storey 2,465 sq ft store will open in early 2019 house the US brand's technical outdoor range along with casualwear inspired by its heritage.

“Announcing the arrival of our London flagship store is another milestone for Columbia just a year after celebrating our 80th anniversary,” said Matthieu Schegg, vice president and general manager at EMEA at Columbia.

“London is a world-renowned shopping city and we look forward to engaging with the city’s active consumers and global visitors, sharing Columbia’s rich heritage and innovative products," he added.

Addy Williams, senior retail portfolio manager at landlord Shaftesbury, said the new flagship store would be "a great addition to Carnaby". "[...] the brand’s innovative technology and community initiatives will make the store a must-visit for 2019. The influential retailer is the perfect fit for this premium retail unit on iconic Carnaby Street, sitting alongside other global, flagship brands," Williams said.

The brand operates another store in London on High Street Kensington.
