Clarks steps into new territory with first UK digital marketplace
Clarks, the 200-year-old British footwear institution, is lacing up for its next chapter. The Somerset-born brand has announced it will launch its first digital marketplace in early 2026.
The new platform, aptly named Clarks Marketplace, will bring together a curated roster of like-minded partners, from heritage bootmaker Hunter and eco-friendly childrenswear brand Frugi, to travel favourite Antler Luggage and colour-driven label Kettlewell Colours.
The aim is simple: give customers more reasons to shop with Clarks, while staying true to its promise of quality and value.
The decision to branch out comes at a pivotal moment for Clarks. The business has spent much of 2025 celebrating its bicentenary with documentary films, creative collaborations with names like Martine Rose and Liam Gallagher, and even the release of a coffee table book, From Somerset to the World. Now, the digital marketplace signals an intent to evolve the business model for modern retail.
"This is an exciting step in Clarks’ growth journey," said Joe Ulloa, President of Clarks for UK & Europe. "By partnering with like-minded brands that share our values of quality and value, we can deliver an enhanced shopping experience that reflects what today’s customers are looking for."
The strategy taps into a broader industry shift. Marketplaces are becoming key growth engines for retailers looking to diversify and keep pace with consumer expectations of convenience. For Clarks, the opportunity lies in capturing family spend beyond footwear.
Ben Allen, Wholesale Manager at Frugi, said: "We are delighted to be one of the first brands announced to join the Clarks marketplace.
"Having successfully partnered with Clarks before, this is the perfect opportunity to grow together, offering more families across the UK a selection of our colourful and sustainable baby and children's products."
