Clarks EMEA boss exits after four years

Clarks' Managing Director for EMEA, Olivier Motteau, has announced that he is stepping down from his role after four years.

He has not yet disclosed where his next role will be.

"It has been a great honour to work for Clarks, an historical house, a real iconic brand in the footwear industry. Over these four years, the quality and dedication of the teams have provided growth, margin and profit improvement, and allowed to regain market shares in many geographical areas," Motteau said in a post on LinkedIn.

Before joining Clarks, Motteau spent 15 years with New Balance, the last seven of which he led retail development across the EMEA region, overseeing the opening of 32 new stores in nine different countries.

Motteau's career began at Reebok, where he rose through the ranks in the 1980s and 1990s. He then spent six years at shoe company Timberland, working on strategic development, before moving to Tommy Hilfiger for two years in 2005.

Clarks, which turned 200 years old in 2025, has been undergoing a brand reinvention. It opened a larger, more modern store on Tottenham Court Road last year, debuting a contemporary retail identity with a stainless-steel exterior and sleek interiors.

The British footwear giant is not only reinventing its physical store presence but has also announced a new approach for its digital channels, with the launch of its first digital marketplace in early 2026, while joining marketplaces including Shein, TikTok Shop, Secret Sales, Walmart and Target.
