Christopher Kane joins Mulberry as creative director of ready-to-wear
Mulberry has appointed celebrated British fashion designer Christopher Kane as creative director of its women's ready-to-wear, as the luxury house seeks to double down on its "Back to the Mulberry Spirit" strategy.
The British luxury house has been seeking to "reconnect with its uniquely British blend of creativity, craft, and culture" under the new strategy, led by CEO Andrea Baldo, who joined Mulberry from Ganni in 2024.
Mulberry's appointment of Kane, a former winner of the Vogue Fashion Fund and four British Fashion Awards, makes a statement that the brand is serious about developing its fashion collection alongside its world-renowned bags.

Baldo said: “Welcoming Christopher marks an important moment for Mulberry as we open a new chapter for ready-to-wear. Christopher brings a rare combination of creativity, intellectual rigour and instinctive playfulness, alongside a deep respect for craft and materials.
"His vision resonates strongly with Mulberry’s heritage and the spirit of British creativity that defines the house. Together we look forward to evolving Mulberry’s creative language beyond accessories and shaping a compelling future for ready-to-wear on a global stage.”
Kane said it was "an honour to join Mulberry, a brand with such a rich British heritage and a deep commitment to craft. I look forward to working closely with Andrea and the team to create a new chapter of ready-to-wear that celebrates the spirit of Mulberry.”
A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Christopher Kane is one of the foremost British fashion designers of his generation. He broke through in 2006 with a graduate collection – of stretch lace dresses – that earned him Donatella Versace as a fan and a window in Harrods.
Kane went on to establish his own label with his sister Tammy and collaborated with Topshop, Manolo Blahnik and Swarovski among others. In 2024 he created a collection as part of a designers in residence programme for Self Portrait.
