Chloé appoints former Gucci comms exec as CMO

Chloé, the Richemont-owned French fashion house, has appointed Valérie Leberichel as its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective 1 June.

Leberichel, who most recently served as Senior Vice President of Global Communications at Gucci, will report directly to CEO Laurent Malecaze, according to WWD.

The hire supports the brand's rejuvenation plan under Creative Director Chemena Kamali, who has been credited with reviving Chloé's brand personality since joining the house in 2023.

Leberichel brings a broad luxury communications background to the role. Beyond her time at Gucci, her career has spanned positions at Givenchy, Celine, Prada Group and Issey Miyake Europe.

The timing aligns with strong commercial signals from Richemont. The group's sales in the quarter ending 31 March were up 13%, compared with 11% in the previous quarter.

In its trading statement, Richemont highlighted "robust increases in the ready-to-wear category" at its fashion and accessories maisons, "in particular at Peter Millar, Alaïa and Chloé".

Being singled out alongside Alaïa, one of Richemont's fastest-growing brands, positions Chloé as a house worth backing, and makes the case for formalising its marketing leadership.

With Leberichel starting on 1 June, the first test of her impact will likely come in the seasons ahead as Chloé prepares campaigns under Kamali's continued creative direction. Richemont's next trading update will offer the clearest read on whether the brand's ready-to-wear momentum is holding.
