Lauretta Roberts
04 April 2019

Charles Tyrwhitt has announced that CEO Michael Stainer will be stepping down after just a year in the role and will be replaced by the retailer's North America president Luke Kingsnorth.

Stainer, whose exact departure date has not been confirmed, will be returning to Germany to act as co-investor of data analytics company, Rebo.

Kingsnorth joined Charles Tyrwhitt in January 2010 as e-commerce director and moved to New York to establish the menswear retailer's first overseas office in July 2016.

He becomes the brand's third CEO in as many years. Stainer had replaced David Boynton who had been with the brand for just over a year and who left in September 2017 to join the Body Shop as CEO.

Charles Tyrwhitt was founded by Nick Wheeler (the brand name come from his middle names) in 1986 and has a flagship store on London’s Jermyn Street and has around 27 stores across the UK as well as international stores in New York, Paris, Washington DC and Chicago.
