Charity shops return to the ASOS Marketplace

Barnardo’s, TRAID, the Oxfam Festival Shop, Save the Children and British Red Cross will all be dropping a range of seasonal items onto the ASOS Marketplace in the lead up to Christmas.

Over the coming months, each charity boutique will release a series of products from party glam to Christmas jumpers and Christmas gifts. The curated collection of vintage products will include unisex clothing and partywear, designer clothing, 90s premium sportswear, denim, jackets, and coats. All proceeds will go direct to each charity, with no commission paid to ASOS.

The move, which helps customer shop sustainably and support a charity in the lead up to Christmas, follows on from a charity festival pop-up on the Marketplace, which included finds from Barnado's, TRAID and the Oxfam Festival Shop during the summer.

Alex Cousins, Marketplace Lead, ASOS, said: “Following the successful launches of Barnardo’s, TRAID and the Oxfam Festival Shop on ASOS Marketplace in the summer, we’re now expanding our roster of charity boutiques to include Save the Children and British Red Cross, helping us make it even easier for our customers to shop in a sustainable and responsible way while supporting the crucial work of these well-known charities.”

Gareth Morgan, Head of Retail Performance, British Red Cross, said: "We’ve scoured our charity shops across the UK and pulled out the outfits we know ASOS Marketplace customers will love, including designer coats, vintage dresses and sportswear-inspired jackets. Buying second hand pieces helps the environment and means we can be there for people when there’s an emergency, no matter who they are – whether that’s helping young refugees settle into a new life in the UK, or empowering people across the world to rebuild their lives after a crisis."

Victoria Rose, Retail Marketing Manager, Save the Children, added: “We can’t wait to launch our collection of one-off Christmas jumpers and partywear on ASOS Marketplace, just in time for our annual fundraiser Christmas Jumper Day! We’ve curated an incredible collection of one-off pieces that will make sure everyone can be sustainably stylish on the big day, and all money raised will go to help Save the Children give kids in over 100 countries around the world a brighter future.”

The ASOS Marketplace, which is a platform to allow consumers to resell unwanted clothing, sold more than 250,000 vintage items in the past year. ASOS also donated more than 45,000 items of clothing to Oxfam and more than £120,000 worth of goods to disability charity Scope, which helped support more than 600 disabled people to get back in to work.
