Chanel bids farewell to President and COO John Galantic

Chanel's President and Chief Operating Officer, John Galantic, is set to depart the luxury fashion house on 30th June to explore new career opportunities.

Galantic, who stepped into the role at Chanel in 2006, later acquired the additional leadership role to helm the company's 'Integrated Platform' team, now dubbed 'Global Digital Services'.

In this role, he led the strategic and operational activity for the French company’s US division and wholesale distribution. He also worked in partnership with Bruno Menard to grow Chanel.com, as well as the company’s digital initiatives.

He succeeded Maureen Chiquet, who was promoted to Global CEO at the time.

According to WWD, Chanel’s Global Executive Chairman Alain Wetheimer and Global CEO Leena Nair made the announcement via an internal letter to employees. The letter noted that Galantic is departing Chanel to pursue new career opportunities.

A spokesperson for Chanel told the media outlet: "During his time with Chanel, John Galantic has built the brand and the business of Chanel Inc. into a true powerhouse. In 2017, he additionally took on a global leadership role to establish and oversee the Global Digital Services (GDS) to grow our Chanel.com and digital capabilities.

"Under his leadership, Chanel Inc. pioneered a transformational client-centric model, increasing Chanel’s owned distribution and elevating client experience as well as profitability, growing the business in all categories."

Prior to his 17-year stint at Chanel, Galantic was president of Coty Beauty US. He also previously held senior positions at SmithKline Beecham and at Procter & Gamble.
