The Centre for Fashion Enterprise (CFE) has unveiled the first two selected designers for its new YOTA programme, which was launched earlier this year to support talent from the Mediterranean.

Muslin Brothers from Israel (www.muslinbrothers.com) and Bashaques (pictured above) from Turkey (www.bashaques.com) will begin their residencies at the pioneering fashion incubator next month.

In total, CFE will invite four young designers from across the Mediterranean to spend up to six months in residence at CFE in London. The YOTA programme will provide an opportunity for designers who have been in business for a minimum of two years to receive crucial support from the CFE and extend networks with key contacts in the United Kingdom to benefit their business in their home country.

The programme will include:

- Studio space at CFE incubator - based in East London

- Business support delivered through workshops and one to one meetings with fashion business experts

- Promotion of their participation in the programme through CFE and YOTA partner channels

- Accommodation in residential premises in London (near to CFE)

- Return flights to London from home country

- Support with material costs

- Travel costs in London

Wendy Malem, Director of Centre for Fashion Enterprise and a member of The Industry said the initiative fed into fashion’s desire for diversity and influences from other cultures.

”For this reason we have invited some 'new voices' to London, talented designers from mid-Mediterranean countries who will take up a six-month residency at the Centre for Fashion Enterprise and join the creative fashion designer community here.  This is an exciting initiative which we are proud to be part of,” she added.

CFE are now launching the call for applications for the second residencies which will take place from beginning April to end September 2016.

The YOTA programme is funded by the European Commission's Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small-Medium Enterprises (COSME).

The Centre for Fashion Enterprise, now in its 12th year, continues to support leading emerging talent with an alumni including the likes of Erdem, Thomas Tait, Marques Almeida, Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto.
